Do you think it's possible for Dementors to force people to do this somehow? They target people good at Arithmancy and somehow make them do it? Our minds are open books to them, if they were after specific talent, they could find it.

That doesn't make sense. There are all sorts of protections against them doing just that. They shouldn't be able to go anywhere the Ministry doesn't let them. So it's got to be someone in the Ministry loosing them. At least, at first. Maybe just for Rothbury. Then, once the protections are down . . . ?

I still don't think so. If the Dementors were behind it they've have been cut loose on Piccadilly Circus already. Tube lines. If we take the latest two as the main corpus of information we're using, as the pattern - not to minimize here, but it's not a lot of people compared to Diagon Alley. If they wanted numbers - and they'd want numbers - it'd be somewhere more crowded.

Still, someone had to loose them in the first place, someone had to let them go to Rothbury and lower those protections first. And that person works at the Ministry. They'd have to. And they're probably a Death Eater. Two birds, one big fucking stone.

I don't think Malfoy would do something so openly solo. But I still don't think it's a Death Eater. If it is, it's someone operating without Voldemort's orders. I don't think he'd want to kill so indiscriminately, he values "pure" magical blood.

Unless he's trying to stir up panic in general, and I wouldn't put it past him. Anyway purity's not the only thing, mind, he doesn't give a flying fuck about any of our families. Wrong kind of purebloods.

Anyway - I didn't mean actually Malfoy, Sirius - Gid's got the truth of it, he's such a doll - but I just mean I don't think we should limit ourselves to people with official Ministry IDs. A lot of people have fingers in that pie.

I dunno. It seems to me like it's mayhem and not specifically targeted mayhem, either. Who do we know who does that, Ministry or otherwise?

Fucking hell, even the pubs are political these days.

But look at Rothbury and the ICW. Contain, kill as many as you can, get out clean. Targeted, precise, with wards, and with evidence of Death Eaters present to clean up after. The latter three attacks aren't like that. The latter three are just--slaughter.

Okay, but again - contained. The Dementors stuck to the museum and the pool, they didn't go gallivanting across the country. What if it's controlled chaos that's meant to look random? Spread panic?

But then why attack only magical places? It's a larger headache if it's mixed company.

We're going round in circles. We can argue til we're blue in the face about who's behind it and why they're doing it, but until we find more evidence, we can't prove anything and we don't have anything to act on.

I still say we throw Malfoy at the wall and see if he sticks. Or get Lily to pump Snape for information on it.
